About Us
Westridge High School History
Westridge High School opened its doors to high school students in 1999. Our story, however, started before these doors ever opened, in 1997 when the school’s foundation was set. Our founders (Hindu men and women) had a vision that all young Zimbabweans should access knowledge, be enlightened and ultimately serve others. Through their commitment and dedication these founding fathers (and mothers) directed their energy towards the construction of our high school. The very foundations of our school are built on a strong work ethic, the value and potential of young people, and the belief in investing in the future and financial prudence.
At Westridge, Confidence, Creativity and Maturity are nurtured by our professional and experienced academic and support staff, in a safe and caring atmosphere. Helping every student fulfil their academic, cultural and sporting potential has been a hallmark of our school for over 26 years.
Mission Statement
With our partners, we provide an environment where talents and interests of a learner are nurtured. The four pillars of academics, sport, culture and pastoral care enable young people to identify a path for their future. We equip them with the education and the confidence to follow that path. Our partners in this mission include the government of Zimbabwe, the Association of Trust Schools in Zimbabwe, Cambridge International (UK) and others who share our vision.
Historic Moments
The Foundation of Westridge High School
The story of Westridge High School is rooted in purpose, vision, and deep respect for learning. Phase 1 marked the laying of the school’s foundation in 1997, the beginning of a journey built on the belief that education is the most powerful legacy. Phase 2 followed in 1999 with a Puja Ceremony that symbolised the laying of the first bricks and concrete structures for the Laboratory Block, led by the President of the Hindoo Society. Phase 3 took place in April 2000, when another Puja Ceremony marked the laying of the first bricks for the Administration Block and Library/Resource Centre by Hindoo Society President Manubhai and Mrs Laxmiben Patel. Each of these milestones was proudly regarded as the depositing of knowledge into the foundation, reflecting Westridge’s enduring commitment to learning, growth, and enlightenment for generations to come.
Westridge High Inaugural Founders Day Celebration
Westridge High School proudly celebrated its inaugural Founders Day, marking 26 years of academic excellence, community spirit, and shaping the future. This milestone event brought together the entire Westridge family, including esteemed guests such as His Excellency, the Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Bramha Kumar, Hindoo Society board members, visionary founding members, alumni, parents, students, staff, and friends of the school. The celebration was a powerful reflection of the unity, pride, and shared values that have defined Westridge High School since its founding.
