Academics

Academic Overview

At Westridge High School, our academic vision is built on our core mantra – Knowledge, Enlightenment and Service. Our rigorous academic programs are designed to challenge, inspire, and cultivate excellence in every learner. With a wide range of subjects spanning the sciences, humanities, languages, practicals, and technology, we ensure that students are holistically prepared for college and beyond. Our learners sit for internationally recognised IGCSE, AS, and A-Level Cambridge Examinations, which equip them with the knowledge and critical thinking skills to thrive in a competitive and ever-evolving world.

Forms 1 & 2

The early high school years mark a vital stage of academic and personal growth. At Westridge, Forms 1 and 2 serve as a bridge between junior and senior school, helping students adapt to new expectations and a more independent learning environment. During this transition, our focus is on nurturing curiosity and building confidence through engaging lessons and a supportive atmosphere. We strive to create a space where each student feels motivated, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

IGCSE Years (Forms 3 & 4)

The IGCSE years are an exciting and defining period in a Westridge student’s academic journey. At this stage, students explore a broader curriculum and begin to specialise in subjects that align with their strengths and future aspirations. Our goal is to help them develop intellectual depth, discipline, and a strong academic foundation that prepares them for advanced studies. In keeping with our mantra, we encourage students not only to pursue knowledge but also to seek enlightenment through critical inquiry, creativity, and collaboration.

Sixth Form (Lower & Upper 6)

The Sixth Form represents the pinnacle of the Westridge academic experience, a time when students refine their skills, strengthen their independence, and prepare for life beyond the classroom. Through the Cambridge AS and A-Level programs, we challenge our students to think globally, lead with integrity, and serve with purpose. Our dedicated teachers and mentors guide each student toward achieving academic excellence while fostering personal growth and resilience. At this stage, we aim to equip our students with the wisdom, confidence, and spirit of service needed to make meaningful contributions on the world stage.

Library & Study Spaces

A culture of reading and self-driven learning lies at the heart of academic life at Westridge. Our school library offers a calm, inviting environment that encourages students to explore ideas, conduct research, and develop a genuine love for books. We promote reading as a gateway to creativity, understanding, and intellectual curiosity. For our senior students, the Sixth Form Study Centre provides a dedicated, quiet space designed to foster focus and independence, a place where students can reflect, collaborate, and prepare thoughtfully for their next steps.
